U
najnovijem filmu Vudija Alena "Ljubav u Barseloni" priča se odvija u
jednom od najlepših gradova Evrope i sveta, Barseloni, u koji odlaze
dve prijateljice Viki (Rebeca Hill) i Kristina (Scarlett Johanson)
tokom leta na odmor.
Narator (Christopher Evan Welch) u filmu
uvodi nas u priču koja predstavlja odnos između dve drugarice. Viki je
veoma osetljiva, tradicionalna devojka koja bi uskoro trebalo da se
uda, dok je Kristina emocionalno i seksualno avanturistički
raspoložena.
Zaplet filma počinje kada one upoznaju
harizmatičnog slikara Huan Antonia (Javier Bardem), kojim obe devojke
bivaju opčinjene, svaka na svoj način, naravno.
Ono što obe
devojke ne znaju, to je da slikar i dalje ima odnose sa svojom
ćudljivom i temperamentom bivšom suprugom Marijom Elenom (Penelope
Cruz).
U nameri da devojke uživaju u moru, suncu, vinu i
flertu bivaju uvučene u neverovatan emotivno-seksualni kovitlac koji će
ih naterati da preispitaju sopstvenu seksualnost, dalje ciljeve i
planove u životu.
Viki pristaje na tajnu romansu sa Huanom, mučena osećajem krivice kako prema svom vereniku, tako i prema svojoj prijateljici.
Za razliku od nje, Kristina neopterećena stereotipnim međuljudskim
odnosima, upoznaje sebe i svoju seksualnost kroz ekstremno jak
seksualni trougao sa Huanom i Marijom Elenom.
